Tankard

Bohemia or Germany, second half of 17th century

Cast pewter with engraved decoration. Lidded tankard with a ribbon handle and a relief cast thumblift. Engraved vegetable relief on the body; in the centre is an emblem with helmets and fanfrnochy (traditional percussion instruments), the year 1672, and the initials PGSF. Horizontal bands engraved in the upper and lower sections of the tankard. G. P. B. and year 1685 are engraved on the lid.
